MURIC duties Oyo State govt to revive IRK educating in colleges
The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has tasked the Oyo State authorities to revive the educating of the Islamic Religious Knowledge (IRK) in public missionary colleges within the state.
MURIC said this in an Open Letter to Gov. Oluseyi Makinde signed by its state Executive General Secretary, Mallam Ibrahim Agunbiade on Wednesday in Abuja.
“I Mallam Ibrahim Agunbiade of the Muslim Rights Concern Oyo State Chapter writing to specific my deep concern concerning the present state of Islamic Religious Knowledge (IRK) schooling in public missionary colleges in Oyo State. As a involved citizen and advocate for high quality schooling, I’m compelled to deliver this situation to your consideration.
“The educating of IRK is a necessary a part of the tutorial curriculum for Muslim college students, offering them with a deep understanding of Islamic values and ideas. However, I’ve been made conscious that the educating of IRK has been uncared for in public missionary colleges in Oyo State.
“Your Excellency, I strongly imagine that the revival of IRK schooling in public missionary colleges is essential for the educational, ethical, and non secular improvement of Muslim college students. It can also be important for selling non secular tolerance, understanding, and social cohesion in our society.
“Furthermore, the Nigerian Constitution guarantees the right to freedom of religion, and the teaching of IRK is an essential part of this right. By reviving IRK education, we can ensure that Muslim students are able to exercise their constitutional right to freedom of religion,” he stated.
Agunbiade added: “The objective of protecting non secular research is to save lots of us from a society the place all types of ungodliness is the order of the day.

This could be achieved by: Providing ample funding and sources for IRK schooling. Ensuring that certified IRK lecturers are employed and skilled.
