Former Governor of Zamfara State and current Senator representing Zamfara West, Dr. Abdul’aziz Yari, has urged politicians and affluent individuals to extend their charitable acts beyond the holy month of Ramadan.
Speaking to journalists in his hometown of Talata Mafara as part of his Sallah message, Yari emphasized the need for continuous Zakkat, Sadaqah, and other forms of support for the less privileged throughout the year. He stressed that charity should not be seasonal but a sustained effort to uplift society.
“I served as governor of this state for two terms, and I believe it would be unwise to ignore the welfare of Zamfara people. Though I currently represent Zamfara West, my responsibility extends to all citizens,” Yari stated.
He underscored that charitable giving should transcend political and geographical boundaries, adding, “As a Muslim, my Sadaqah should not be confined to my constituency. My goal is to seek the pleasure of Almighty Allah by assisting everyone, regardless of their political affiliation.”
During Ramadan, Yari demonstrated his commitment to philanthropy by donating 496 trucks of assorted grains to support the needy. He called on wealthy Nigerians to emulate such gestures to alleviate the suffering of vulnerable communities.
In addition to his call for year-round charity, Yari commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration for introducing welfare programs aimed at improving Nigerians’ living standards. He urged citizens to support the government’s efforts in driving national progress.
“As we celebrate Sallah, let us reflect on the lessons of Ramadan and strive to make them part of our daily lives,” he said, offering prayers for strength, good health, and continued prosperity for all Muslims.
Yari also extended warm congratulations to President Tinubu on his 73rd birthday, praying for his continued wisdom and success in leading the country.
