Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) deputy chief Godfrey Osotsi has known as on the members of the celebration to accord Secretary General Edwin Sifuna the respect he deserves.

Speaking on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, Osotsi confused that Sifuna’s place because the celebration’s secretary common designates him as a bonafide spokesperson mandated to talk on behalf of the celebration.

The Senator lamented {that a} spate of verbal assaults directed on the Nairobi Senator from a bit of members of the celebration have been witnessed.

“Sifuna is the official spokesperson of the party, after the party leader, he is the official spokesperson of the party as the secretary general. He speaks on behalf of the central management committee. I get upset when we meet as a central management committee and issue a statement read by Sifuna and immediately afterwards he is attacked for reading a statement processed by the committee. It is out of order; when he speaks in an official meeting it’s the party position,” Osotsi posited.

The Vihiga Senator has additional demanded that members desist from a pattern he claims would possibly pose dire penalties to the unity of the celebration if left unchecked.

“When he (Sifuna) speaks in our official meeting it’s the party position. I’m asking them to slow down, we are not saying people should not air their opinions, rather, let them speak their minds within the confines of the rules governing the party,” he added.

Osotsi’s remarks come amid a simmering division inside the celebration that has prompted the convening of the assembly scheduled for Sunday, February 9, 2025.

Calling out authorities

During a funeral service of the Kenya National Commission of Human Rights’s Roseline Odede, Senator Sifuna had hit out at ODM leaders over what he termed as sycophancy with the ruling administration.

“We must stop being sycophants. If something is wrong, it is wrong. I will not participate in the activities of my fellow ODM members who are enjoying the fruits of being in Ruto’s government and are stifling my efforts to call out the government,” Sifuna stated.
