South Sudan military planes goal Nasir, Longechuk – Sudans Post

JUBA – At least 12 individuals had been killed and a number of other others wounded in airstrikes on Nasir and Longechuk counties in Upper Nile State late Sunday, witnesses stated, with fears the casualty depend might rise.

The airstrikes, which started round 11:20 p.m. native time in Nasir and continued into Longechuk round midnight, concerned plane whose id remained disputed by eyewitnesses.

Locals reported seeing plane dropping what they described as barrel bombs, with some believing them to be Antonov planes, whereas others steered they resembled drones.

“What I saw looks like an Antonov because it dropped the barrels from a longer distance above the land,” a witness, who declined to be named for safety causes, informed Sudans Post on Monday morning. “However, others are saying it looked more like a drone.”

Witnesses reported two barrel bombs had been dropped on Nasir, one hanging the airstrip and the opposite the Nasir market. The exact id of the plane was not instantly confirmed by official sources.

The South Sudan People’s Defence Forces (SSPDF) couldn’t be instantly reached for remark, and particulars on the variety of wounded remained unclear.
