Simiu goals to bounce again in Seoul Marathon

Reigning World 10,000m silver medallist Daniel Simiu has set his sights on the Seoul Marathon, scheduled for March 16. 

Fresh from profitable the National Cross-Country Championships on the Eldoret Sports Club, Ebenyo prolonged his dominance on the Absa Sirikwa Classic Cross Country Continental Tour at Lobo Village, Eldoret.




The Iten-based runner delivered a stellar efficiency, clocking 29:57 to clinch the title forward of Gideon Rono, who completed second in 30:07, whereas Nicholas Kimeli secured third place in 30:15.  

A National Police Service officer, Ebenyo made his marathon debut on the 2023 Chicago Marathon, the place he completed fifth. Now balancing between observe and street races, he has confirmed his participation in subsequent month’s Seoul Marathon, banking on his robust coaching routine and preparation. 

“I strongly believe I will perform well in the race and secure a podium finish. Nobody knows what tomorrow holds, so let’s focus on the present,” Ebenyo stated.  

The former African 5000m silver medallist endured a difficult 2023 season, lacking out on the Paris Olympic Games after falling through the nationwide trials and ending eighth, failing to make Team Kenya. 

Despite the setback, he has been in high type each domestically and internationally.

In 2024, he received the Berlin Half Marathon in 59:30, including to his achievements from the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest, the place he claimed silver within the 10,000m.
