SECTION 65: DPP says speaker Gotani Hara compromised

Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has accused Speaker of Parliament Catherine Gotani Hara of being compromised after Parliament dismissed the get together’s request to declare vacant the seats of 5 Members of Parliament who allegedly crossed the ground.

According to Ian Mwenye, spokesperson for Parliament, the request lacked enough proof to assist the allegations.

However, Chipiliro Mpinganjira, DPP’s Director of Legal Affairs, countered that the choice was anticipated, given the speaker’s compromised place.

In an interview with Zodiak Online, Political analyst Dr. George Chaima criticized Parliament’s management for shielding lawmakers who intentionally flouted the legislation.

This growth comes amidst studies that MP Welani Chilenga has formally joined the ruling Malawi Congress Party (MCP), whereas others now function ministers and deputies, together with Joyce Chitsulo, Benedicto Chambo and Owen Chomanika.
