Residents seek Radda’s intervention over Rep member’s alleged injustice

Owners of a land on which a primary school was constructed by the member representing Dutsinma/Kurfi federal constituency, Alhaji Aminu Balele Dan’arewa, have accused the lawmaker of forcefully taking over the land from them without compensation.

In an open letter signed by Abbas Usman Kurfi on behalf of the affected residents, addressed to Katsina State Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, the affected residents urged him to intervene in the interest of justice.

The letter is titled, ‘Appeal for Intervention Regarding Uncompensated Land Acquisition for Maradi Alu Primary School, Kurfi’.

It reads: “We are the indigenes and rightful landowners of the area where the Maradi Alu Primary School, Kurfi, has been constructed. We wish to respectfully bring to your attention a matter of deep concern that has greatly affected our community.

“It is with a heavy heart that we inform Your Excellency that the land on which the school was built was forcefully taken from us by Alhaji Aminu Balele Dan’arewa, Member of the House of Representatives, Representing Dutsin-Ma and Kurfi, without any form of compensation or due process.

“This land has been our main source of livelihood for generations, and many of us especially the less privileged, women, and orphans depend on it for survival.

“Despite our repeated efforts to engage the said representative for dialogue and resolution, all our appeals have gone unanswered.

“We have tried through peaceful means to be heard, but our voices have not been acknowledged. We feel abandoned, unheard, and unfairly treated.

“Your Excellency, we believe in your commitment to justice, equity, and the protection of the rights of every citizen of Katsina State.

“We humbly plead with you to look into this issue and help us find a fair resolution. We are not against development, but we strongly believe that development should not come at the cost of injustice to the poor and voiceless.

“We count on your wisdom and leadership to ensure that our grievances are addressed and that justice is served to the rightful owners of the land.

“Thank you, Your Excellency, for your attention to this matter. May Allah continue to guide and strengthen you in your service to the people of Katsina State.”
