The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Sokoto State has raised serious concerns over the management of local government funds by the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administration, citing growing financial difficulties at the grassroots level.
Speaking during a strategic meeting with party executives across state, zonal, and local levels at the PDP secretariat, the party’s state chairman, Hon. Bello Aliyu Goronyo, emphasized the urgent need for transparency and accountability in the disbursement and utilization of local council funds.
Goronyo alleged that numerous local government councils are grappling with financial constraints, which he linked to poor governance practices under the current state administration. He warned that if these issues persist, they could stall developmental projects and compromise the delivery of essential services to communities.
The chairman further criticized the perceived neglect of basic infrastructure in parts of Sokoto, highlighting the lack of access to potable drinking water in certain areas of the metropolis as a key example of the government’s failure to meet citizens’ needs.
He urged the state government to prioritize the welfare of the people and ensure that public trust is not betrayed. According to Goronyo, the people of Sokoto State deserve responsible leadership and improved living standards. He reiterated the PDP’s commitment to presenting people-centered solutions that address the socio-economic challenges facing the state.
