LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The Opposition Leader in Malawi Parliament Dr George Chaponda has accused Malawi Congress Party (MCP) cadres of politicising goverment maize distribution train.
The opposition chief Chaponda observes meals distribution train is supposed to supply reduction to susceptible communities affected by starvation throughout the nation, is being shamefully manipulated for political achieve.
In a press assertion issued on Tuesday, January 28, 2024, Chaponda calls upon the federal government to right away cease the malpractice and return the meals distribution train to the succesful and impartial fingers of Department of Disaster Management Affairs (DoDMA).

The opposition chief observes, “It cements allegations from different quarters of society that this authorities might have intentionally created the starvation disaster to take advantage of the struggling of the individuals for its personal political benefit.
“The maize and other relief items being distributed do not belong to the MCP. These resources are the property of the Malawian government approved by parliament, procured using taxpayers’ money and support from our development partners through the World Food Program”.
He added, “They are meant for each Malawian in want,
no matter political affiliation, tribe, or area. No political social gathering has the proper to assert possession or use them as marketing campaign instruments.
“To the people of Malawi: I urge you to reject this political manipulation. Our collective suffering should not be exploited for political gain”.
He appeals, “We should demand transparency, equity, and accountability within the distribution of reduction gadgets. Let us remind the MCP authorities that they’ve an obligation to serve all Malawians equally and never simply their political supporters.
“We call upon the government to immediately stop this malpractice and return the food distribution exercise to the capable and neutral hands of DoDMA”.
Chaponda calls additional, “I urge our improvement companions to carefully monitor the distribution course of to make sure that their contributions attain the supposed beneficiaries with out political interference.
“As the Leader of the Opposition, I remain committed to holding this government accountable. We will not stand by while the welfare of Malawians is compromised for political expediency.
