Nigeria, Bangladesh To Cooperate In Defence, Agriculture

Minister ofdefensce Muhammad Badaru Abubakar says Nigeria will work with Bangladesh to explore more areas of cooperation in the defence and agriculture sectors.

“This bilateral cooperation if discussed further will successfully integrate military personnel into various non-combat sectors such as agriculture, construction, and infrastructure development,” Badaru was quoted as saying.

This was contained in a statement made available to The Syndicate by the Personal Assistant on Media and Publicity to the defence minister, Mati Ali.

According to him, the cooperation will ensure that military personnel remain constructively engaged during peacetime, contributing to their personal economic prosperity and the overall development of the nation.

The minister, who made the remarks when he received the Bangladesh High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mansur Rahman, who paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja, said the fusion of military activities with agriculture will foster skills and contribute to community development

In his remarks, the High Commissioner expressed support for the idea and reiterated the importance of military involvement in civilian sectors as a means of fostering sustainable development and economic stability.

He highlighted that defence cooperation between Nigeria and Bangladesh will substantially develop the Nigeria’s blue economy, and highlights the defence ministry’s innovative strategies to promote the welfare of military personnel and Nigeria’s prosperity.
