Aisha Gambo, a Senior Correspondent with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), has been chosen for the sixth Female Reporters Leadership Programme (FRLP) fellowship.

The fellowship, which was launched in 2017, is organised by the Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism (WSCIJ).

It goals to equip feminine journalists with the abilities to champion the reason for improved management standing of girls within the information, newsrooms and society.

In a press release on Saturday, Motunrayo Alaka, Executive Director and CEO of WSCIJ, mentioned the Report Women! programme had helped to extend the amount and high quality of stories on points affecting ladies and ladies in Nigeria.

She mentioned over the previous decade, WSCIJ had educated 537 journalists throughout Nigeria and Ghana.

Alaka mentioned the centre had additionally supported 136 tales and 138 management initiatives, printed six analysis on ladies’s illustration within the media and produced six documentaries.

The centre, she mentioned, had additionally launched a feminine consultants’ supply information and engaged newsrooms on the management of girls within the information and newsrooms.

“The Female Reporters Leadership Programme, launched in 2017, has produced 86 fellows throughout 5 cohorts and pushed intentional efforts to put extra ladies in management positions inside newsrooms and information.

“Through an intensive coaching and mentoring, this sixth version of FRLP Fellowship will equip contributors with the abilities to champion the reason for improved management standing of girls within the information, newsrooms and society.

“The fellowship and the broader Report Women! News and Newsroom Engagement challenge has been supported by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation since 2021″ she mentioned.

She added that the fellowship was designed to interact the administration and employees of reports media organisations in Nigeria, and ultimately Africa, to extend illustration of girls in information protection, newsroom management and as information sources.

Gambo is likely one of the 12 contributors who made the shortlist out of a aggressive pool of 160 feminine candidates.
