The mountain lies close to the Olmoti Crater on path to Empakaai Crater on the Ngorongoro Conservation Area’s jap border and is situated solely inside Nainokanoka ward. The volcano is situated within the geographic space referred to as within the Crater Highlands and is an extinct volcano that final erupted within the pleistocene. The mountain is also the supply of Simiyu River, which flows west to Lake Victoria in Simiyu Region.
Mount Lolmalasin is the best crater mountain within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and the third tallest mountain in Tanzania and the second highest peak in Arusha area after Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru, reaching about 3,700 meters (12,080 ft) above sea degree.
