Kaizer Chiefs are eyeing three South African skills. Two belong to Richards Bay (Yanela Mbuthuma and Lwandile Mabuya), and the opposite resides in Portugal (Yaya Sithole).
The Glamour Boys, sitting eighth on the log after shedding 2-0 to the Natal Rich Boyz final Sunday, have some plugs to repair on the subject of squad depth. Nasreddine Nabi has been eager for an out-and-out attacker – Mbuthuma, who just lately scored towards Chiefs, may very well be the reply to his prayers.
“Chiefs are also interested in that Richards Bay striker that Pirates have enquired about before, Yanela Mbuthuma,” SoccerLaduma confirmed.
“For now, it’s just interest from the team. I am not sure if there is anything official yet from Chiefs to talk to Richards Bay. But what I can tell you is that Chiefs are interested in him.”
The right-back place is one other space on the pitch the place Kaizer Chiefs are weak. Nabi’s staff are Mbuthuma’s teammate, Mabuya.
“What I know is that Chiefs have been interested in Mabuya for some time now since the start of the season and now it’s believed that they are close to tabling an offer to buy the defender,” a supply confirmed.
“No, I can’t say how much it is but it’s between the two clubs right now and it’s up to Richards Bay to decide. But what we know is that Chiefs are interested in the defender.”
Sithole curiosity confirmed
Bafana defender Sithole is one other participant on Kaizer Chiefs’ radar as the club continues to look over the borders in search of readymade talent.
“Of course, the membership remains to be to get the gamers they want domestically however in the event that they can’t then they’ll go outdoors the nation and that’s why they’ve reignited their curiosity in Yaya. He is definitely again on their radar,
“They believe he can complement the team very well with the current midfielders of [Gaston] Sirino, [Mdu] Shabalala, [Ox] Mthethwa, [Thabo] Cele, [Yusuf] Maart and even [Edson] Castillo. So, they will be looking at how they can bring him in now.”
