Hyphen Hydrogen Energy (Hyphen) has entered right into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Hardap Regional Council to foster native expertise improvement and capability constructing within the area.
“The historic signing of an MoU between the Hardap Regional Council and Hyphen is a milestone. It marks the beginning of preparing the otherwise demoralised youth of the region to receive education in the form of skills development, allowing them to confidently participate in the new, fledgling economies in the South. This opportunity, created through the signing of the MoU, is long overdue as it inspires the youth to begin to dream and anticipate a future for themselves and for the economic prosperity of the region and the country,” stated Solomon April, Governor of Hardap.
Hyphen defined that this initiative is a part of its collaborative efforts with the Namibian Government to deal with current expertise gaps in Namibia’s Green Hydrogen sector and make sure that Namibians can take part within the undertaking.
“This MoU lays the foundation for our collaboration, with a strong emphasis on technical training at the TVET level. Our goal is to ensure that local talent is well-equipped to seize the opportunities emerging from the implementation of the Hyphen project,” Toni Beukes, Head of Environment and Social Governance at Hyphen, stated.
Hyphen additionally introduced the creation of a Working Group that may discover progressive areas of cooperation and develop strategic initiatives to reinforce expertise improvement and capability constructing in Hardap.
“By leveraging collective expertise and resources, impactful solutions can be created that directly address local challenges and support the development of a skilled workforce. This will, in turn, drive sustainable growth and employment in the region,” Hyphen stated.
Penda Ithindi, Executive Director of the Ministry of Mines and Energy, talking on behalf of Minister Tom Alweendo, emphasised that the Hyphen Energy funding portfolio is a significant supply of socio-economic advantages for the nation, significantly for the Hardap Region.
“The Ministry of Mines and Energy supports the Hyphen SED Framework and commends the Hardap Regional leadership and Hyphen Energy for this well-targeted collaborative arrangement. As a steward of the energy sector, the Ministry is pleased to provide leadership, policy support, as well as leverage its convening power to enable the realisation of the transformational objectives espoused in the Memorandum of Understanding. It is the Government’s expectation that the provisions of this MoU are translated into actions with impactful outcomes that are monitored and reported on regularly,” Ithindi added.
