Fire guts Malual Chat Armory depot in Bor

JUBA – An ammunition retailer caught fireplace on Wednesday at Malual Chat army barrack, one kilometer south of Bor city of South Sudan’s Jonglei State, police stated.

In an interview with Sudans Post on Wednesday, Jonglei State Police Commissioner, John Bak confirmed the explosion on the arms storage in Bor and acknowledged that no accidents had been reported.

“It is the ammunition store that caught fire in Jonglei State military barrack Malual Chat, which caused the heavy gunfire sounds in the area,” stated Bak.

Bak stated the hearth was suspected to have been attributable to sizzling climate.

He inspired the neighborhood to take care of its calm whereas assuring the general public that the difficulty was beneath management.

“There is not any fighting in Bor, and I would like to tell the residents of Bor to remain in their houses as it was only the explosion of the ammunitions in the military barrack” stated Bak.

Bak stated there was no motive to be alarmed or panicked.

For his half, Jacob Achiek Machar, mayor of the Bor municipal council, stated that the state of affairs has been introduced beneath management.

“There is no fighting, and there is no attack. I am urging all residents to remain calm and stay at home. You are advised to go about your normal activities,” stated Machar.

“Those who run away from their homes, I am requesting you to return home; this is my appeal and the government of Jonglei state,” Machar stated.

The same incident occurred in March 2024 when an armaments retailer at Malual Chat close to Bor was destroyed by fireplace that was began by a “Giant Nile lizard.”
