FG to upgrade State House Medical Centre

The Federal government has inaugurated a  high-level technical committee to reposition the State House Medical Centre for effective service delivery.

Inaugurating the Committee in Abuja, the Minister of Education, Dr. Olatunji Alausa explained that the formation of the committee was a special assignment from President Bola Tinubu aimed at enhancing the nation’s healthcare system through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) framework.

According to Dr. Alausa, the committee’s establishment was to introduce strategic collaboration with the private sector for greater efficiency and to meet up with global standards.

The minister outlined the committee’s terms of reference, to include implementation of frameworks, procurement process management, stakeholder engagement, evaluation, contract documentation, and setting clear timelines and deliverables.

He further said all the committee members were carefully selected based on their track records and to represent various constituencies.

”Every member of this working group has been engaged by the President to do this work and I charge you to do it with vigour, sense of purpose, lets keep sentiments aside. Its not about taking the job away from civil servants, its about efficiency. ‘He said

The special Adviser to the President on Health matters,  Dr. Salma Anas who is the Chairperson of the committee acknowledged the committee’s readiness to work diligently to actualise the transformation of the State House Medical Centre.

“On behalf of the team, the experts that you have brought here onboard, i want to say we have accepted this task but you are not going to leave us alone, we will continue to come and seek for guidance and update you frequently,’ she said.

The nine member technical committee has been mandated to ensure timely and impactful implementation of the project.

They include:

• Dr. Salma Ibrahim Anas, Chairman (Special Adviser to the President on Health)

• Mr. Funmi Badmus, SA on Special Duties

• Prof. Tunji Olaopa, Chairman, Civil Service Commission

• Ibrahim Abdulkadir, Deputy Director, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation

• Obi Alio Chekeubechi, Ministry of Justice

• Dr. David Atuwo, mni, Ministry of Education

• Dr. Agbor Neji Ebuta, PS, State House

• Dr. Adebowale Adedokun, DG, BPP

• Olusegun Akinyelure
