The Federal Government has partnered with the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) to boost the worldwide competitiveness of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).

Dr Jumoke Oduwole, the Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, made this announcement throughout a Strategic Capacity-building Programme for Nigerian SMEs, organised in collaboration with WIPO, on Friday in Abuja.

The minister was represented by Mr Adamu Yauri, Director of the Trademarks Registry, within the ministry.

Oduwole defined that the programme aimed to leverage mental property and branding as instruments to boost the competitiveness of SMEs.

She reaffirmed the ministry’s dedication to empowering SMEs via mental property and branding methods.

She revealed that the initiative had chosen and skilled about 60 SMEs, equipping them with important expertise to foster enterprise progress.

These SMEs, she famous, would function a reference for others, and the success of the programme would help efforts to broaden future collaborations with WIPO.
