Djibouti’s Foreign Minister, Mahmoud Youssouf, has gained the race to turn out to be the brand new Chairperson of the African Union Commission.
Youssouf defeated former Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga and former Malagasy Foreign Minister Richard Randriamandrato for the celebrated position.
Youssouf says he’ll prioritise regional safety and promote better unity throughout Africa, aiming to bridge linguistic and cultural divides on the continent.
His win marks a big second for Djibouti, as he prepares to guide the African Union’s efforts in tackling key points going through the area.
