The Bakau Development Committee (BDC) has spent greater than 4 million dalasis on a variety of neighborhood growth initiatives together with healthcare, schooling, fisheries, non secular help, and different social companies.
Speaking on the committee’s annual normal assembly, Alhagie Ba Nuwa Touray, the treasurer, highlighted the affect of their initiatives because the group’s formation in 2018.
“Over the years, we have spent more than four million dalasis on various projects, ranging from education, fisheries, healthcare, and social services,” he stated.
“We have also provided financial and material support to families of those who embarked on the backway journey, helping them through healing and recovery. In addition, we have assisted widows and bereaved families in the community.”
Touray emphasised that the committee stays dedicated to addressing social challenges and bettering livelihoods in Bakau.
One of BDC’s main contributions was the donation of an ambulance to the Bakau Health Centre in 2021, geared toward bettering emergency healthcare companies locally.
Meanwhile, Badara Yorro Jallow, chairman of the BDC, has known as on younger folks to take an lively function within the city’s growth.
“We are ageing, and if we talk about development without the involvement of the youth, then something is missing,” he stated.
“It is crucial for young people to step forward and take charge of this initiative. We are ready to guide and support them.”
