Desperate Gambian youths scale fence in scramble for Spain work permits







Hundreds of younger Gambians have climbed the fence of the Labour Department in a determined try and safe work permits for Spain.

The chaotic scenes in Fajara on Monday noticed crowds scrambling to enter the federal government workplace, prompting contemporary criticism of The Gambia’s dealing with of youth employment.

The rush comes after the federal government signed an settlement with Spain final 12 months to ship seasonal staff to farms within the European nation.

Many have criticised the scheme, arguing it highlights the federal government’s failure to handle excessive youth unemployment.
